This album of re-worked classics was released in 1989, under the title: "Brian Johnson and Geordie: Keep On Rocking"
(They included Brian's name in the title to further stress the point he was involved,in an attempt to ship more units by associating AC/DC with the release.Hints the AC/DC font used, and well...that picture of Brian is from the 1985,well into his tenure of AC/DC lead singer.)
This album features re-recordings of 12 of Geordie's previous songs. All the songs have re-worked instrumental parts, giving this album an "80's" vibe.
I'm not positive, but in comparison to the original versions released on Geordie's other albums,Brian's vocals appear to be re-recorded as well.I assume he did them just before joining AC/DC, as he was putting together a new version of the group.
If he did record it while he was in AC/DC, nobody has wrote or talked about it.
Many people who've heard a song or two from this album find it horrible compared to the original 70's versions, but I think this album has been far overlooked. It's catchy, melodic, and the if you enjoy 80's rock, this is perfect for you.Brian sounds amazing, and it's amazing to hear how different he could have been in the 80's, just signifies how great of a singer he truly is.
I enjoy both the original and re-recorded songs, and this '89 release kicks some ass.
It's pretty cool really, when you consider, this is what an 80's Brian fronted Geordie would have been like, had he not joined AC/DC.
