Best of Dark Horse 1976--1989 is George Harrison's second official compilation album and was released in 1989. It follows up on both his successful comeback album Cloud Nine in 1987 and the Harrison-led Traveling Wilburys Vol. 1 the following year, also a big seller.

The album covers Harrison's work released on his own Dark Horse Records label, ranging from 1976's Thirty Three & 1/3 to Cloud Nine and beyond. Best of Dark Horse 1976--1989 failed to chart in the United Kingdom and reached #132 in the United States.

Best of Dark Horse 1976--1989, originally distributed through Warner Bros. Records, went out of print some years after its release, without being reissued by EMI when it acquired Harrison's entire Dark Horse catalogue.

Specially for this release, Harrison recorded two new songs—"Poor Little Girl" and "Cockamamie Business"—while also including his Lethal Weapon 2 soundtrack song "Cheer Down" for good measure. These three songs were not included as bonus tracks on the remastered edition of Cloud Nine, nor did they appear on the The Dark Horse Years 1976--1992 box set. There are two other Harrison retrospectives, 1976's The Best of George Harrison and 2009's Let It Roll: Songs by George Harrison, the latter of which also includes "Cheer Down".

Cloud Nine is George Harrison's tenth studio album, recorded and released in 1987 after a five-year hiatus from his recording career. Including the hit single "Got My Mind Set on You", Cloud Nine re-established Harrison as a critically acclaimed and commercially significant recording artist. It was to be Harrison's final solo studio album released during his lifetime. Brainwashed is the final studio album by George Harrison, released in 2002, almost a year after his death at age 58.

Frustrated with the changing musical climate, George Harrison suspended his recording career in the early 1980s. He opted to pursue his other interests, such as film production with his own company, Handmade Films. The odd soundtrack or charity song would surface during this period, but otherwise it was a musically silent period for Harrison.

By late 1986 — after a substantial break — Harrison felt the desire to make music again. He asked former Electric Light Orchestra leader and fellow musician Jeff Lynne to co-produce the album with him. After having written a round of new compositions (including the songs already contributed to the 1986 film Shanghai Surprise), Harrison entered his home studio, Friar Park, in Henley-on-Thames on 5 January 1987 to begin recording his first new commercial album in five years. Besides Harrison and Lynne, other artists involved in the recording sessions included Jim Keltner and Ringo Starr on drums, Eric Clapton on guitar, and on piano both Gary Wright and Elton John (who was recovering from his vocal surgery at the time). With new-found enthusiasm, Harrison actively promoted the album, even appearing with Starr at the Prince's Trust Concert that June to perform "While My Guitar Gently Weeps".

Harrison's cover of Rudy Clark's obscure song "Got My Mind Set on You" quickly reached #1 in the United States and #2 in the United Kingdom. It was a surprising hit for the former Beatle, who had not enjoyed a mainstream #1 hit in nearly fifteen years. A few weeks later, Cloud Nine was released to very high anticipation, and it was promptly lauded by many critics as Harrison's best work since All Things Must Pass. The album went to #10 in the UK; it also achieved #8 and platinum status in the US. The success of the single "Got My Mind Set on You" and its accompanying video re-introduced George Harrison to the mainstream.

The Beatles tribute song "When We Was Fab" also proved a successful follow-up single, reaching the Top 25 in both the UK and US. The next single, "This Is Love", was a minor hit in the UK.

While the success of Cloud Nine was not enough to spur Harrison into a tour, it inspired him to continue making music. In the spring of 1988, along with Lynne, he would call up friends Bob Dylan, Tom Petty and Roy Orbison and begin recording a project ultimately released as the Traveling Wilburys.

In 2004, Cloud Nine was remastered and reissued both separately and as part of the deluxe box set The Dark Horse Years 1976-1992 on Dark Horse Records with new distribution by EMI, adding the bonus tracks "Shanghai Surprise" and "Zig Zag" (also released as "When We Was Fab"'s B-Side) from the film Shanghai Surprise.

The cover features George's first American made guitar, a 1957 Gretsch 6128 Duo Jet that he purchased from a sailor for £75 in Liverpool in 1961. George called it his old black Gretsch. George gave the guitar to longtime friend, Klaus Voorman who kept it for twenty years. The guitar had been left in Los Angeles and had been modified. George had the guitar restored and used it for the cover shoot.

Living in the Material World is the third studio album by George Harrison, released in 1973 on the Apple Records label. As the follow-up to 1970's acclaimed All Things Must Pass and his pioneering charity project, The Concert for Bangladesh, it was among the most highly anticipated releases of that year.

Living in the Material World was certified gold by the Recording Industry Association of America just two days after release, on its way to becoming Harrison's second (and final) number 1 album in the United States, and spawned the international hit "Give Me Love (Give Me Peace on Earth)". It also topped the charts in Canada and reached number 2 in the United Kingdom, Sweden, Belgium and Australia. Remastered in 2006, Living in the Material World is notable for the uncompromising spiritual content of its songs, as well as for what are generally considered to be the finest guitar performances of Harrison's career.

Stephen Holden of Rolling Stone described the album as a "pop classic". Most contemporary reviewers consider Living in the Material World to be a worthy successor to All Things Must Pass. Author Simon Leng refers to it as a "forgotten blockbuster".

Ringo Rama is Ringo Starr's 12th studio album and was released in 2003. As the follow-up to 1998's Vertical Man, it continues Starr's alliance with Mark Hudson as well as most of his collaborators from that last project. Ringo Rama is also Starr's first release under his new contract with Koch Records.

Not straying too far from his tried and tested formula, Starr engaged the services of some of his famous musician friends for Ringo Rama. Contributors this time around include Willie Nelson, Charlie Haden, Van Dyke Parks, Pink Floyd's David Gilmour, Shawn Colvin, Timothy B. Schmit, and Eric Clapton. With George Harrison's late 2001 passing before Ringo Rama was started, Starr composed "Never Without You" in tribute to his friend, having Clapton perform the guitar solo duties.

Released in March 2003 (and again that November in a special edition) to relatively good reviews, Ringo Rama missed the UK charts but managed a #113 peak in the U.S.

Time Takes Time is the tenth studio album by Ringo Starr, released in 1992, his critically acclaimed comeback album. His first studio album since 1983's Old Wave, it followed a successful 1989/1990 world tour with his All-Starr Band. Aligning himself with top producers Don Was, Peter Asher, Phil Ramone and Jeff Lynne, the album was recorded sporadically throughout 1991. The material was written predominantly by outside writers, with Ringo co-writing three songs. Time Takes Time features several celebrity guests including Brian Wilson, Harry Nilsson and Electric Light Orchestra frontman Lynne. Time Takes Time also marked Starr's first alliance with Mark Hudson, both of whom would embark on a long-term musical partnership in the ensuing years. Hudson assisted in vocal arrangements on some of the Phil Ramone-produced tracks.

Several tracks were left off the album. A Paul McCartney song entitled "Angel in Disguise", to which Ringo added a verse, has not seen the light of day.[4] Ringo covered the Elvis Presley hit "Don't Be Cruel" which was instead issued as the B-side of the "Weight Of The World" CD single (except in Japan). Another outtake, "Everyone Wins", was issued in Germany as the vinyl B-side of the "Don't Go Where The Road Don't Go" single. Two more outtakes that never saw the light of day (to date) were a Phil Picket song "Love Is Going To Get You", produced by Phil Ramone, and the Jeff Lynne produced "Call Me". Lynne told journalist Peter Palmiere as part of a DISCoveries cover story on Ringo that "Call Me" will never be released at anytime anywhere.[citation needed] Although Starr recorded and released a song on Goodnight Vienna entitled "Call Me", it bears no resemblance to the Jeff Lynne-produced number.

Well-received upon release, many critics considered Time Takes Time Starr's best album since 1973's "Ringo". Rolling Stone magazine wrote, "The drummer's most consistent, wide-awake album since Ringo, from 1973". The release was met with some indifference by the public however, and thus failed to chart. However, lead single "Weight Of The World" managed to reach #74 in the UK, giving Starr his first single entry there since "Only You (And You Alone)" in 1974.

Time Takes Time has sold about 70,000 copies in America since its release although Private Music before they folded claimed[specify] sales figures a little over 200,000 in the US. Times Takes Time was the last Ringo Starr album on vinyl until Y Not, though only in Mexico, Brazil, Spain and Germany.

Despite an All-Starr tour in 1992 to promote the album, Time Takes Time would be Ringo Starr's only album with Private Music before he was dropped from their roster. It was also deleted a few years after its release.

Armchair Theatre is the first solo album by Jeff Lynne, released in 1990
"Every Little Thing" and "Lift Me Up" were released as singles. The album also features two classic cover versions "September Song" and "Stormy Weather" the latter recorded as a tribute to his late mother.[2] The album re-united Lynne with Electric Light Orchestra's keyboard player Richard Tandy and fellow Traveling Wilburys member George Harrison (both Harrison and the Wilburys were signed to Warner Bros. Records, parent of Reprise Records which released this album).
A 2013 remaster is set to be released on 19 April 2013 in the UK, and on 23 April 2013 in the US, and to include two bonus tracks, one of them previously unreleased.

Recorded in 1970-71 at the same time that The Move was also laying down tracks for
the first Electric Light Orchestra album [and even during some of the same sessions]
there are inevitably some similarities in style between the two albums, especially
the heavy use of "tracking up" (overdubbing) to capture all of the instruments being
played by Roy Wood and Jeff Lynne. Nevertheless, Wood and Lynne were determined to
maintain some differentiation between the sound of their two groups
[for example, by confining Wood's saxes to Message and Wood's cellos to the ELO debut]

The Move was also responsible for the cover, as the painting
was done by Roy Wood, based on an idea by Jeff Lynne.

Es gibt viele Musiker, aber wenig können von sich behaupten, dass Musik von Anfang an ihr Leben bestimmt hat. Im Alter von sechs Jahren hat Victor Smolski, Sohn des Bekannten Komponisten Dimitri Smolski, angefangen Musik zu studieren. Allerdings war ihm die Klassik zu konservativ und so griff er bereits mit elf Jahren zur E- Gitarre und entwickelte seine Fähigkeiten vollends. Er beherrscht ebenso Klavier und Cello.
Heute gibt er sein Wissen u.a. in Workshops weiter. Seit 1999 ist er bei der deutschen Heavy Metal Band RAGE tätig, welche 2014 ihr dreißigjähriges Bühnenjubiläum im Rahmen einer Welttournee feiert. Sein neustes Projekt LMO (Lingua Mortis Orchestra) ist eine Zusammenspiel von Heavy Metal und Klassik in seiner einzigartigen und höchsten Form.

Aber nicht nur die Musik begeistert Victor Smolski. Es ist auch der Rennsport, den er seit 1999 aktiv und semi-professionell betreibt. Weltweit ist er auf Rennstrecken unterwegs Seine Lieblingsstrecke ist die Nordschleife des Nürburgrings.

Diese Dokumentation verleiht abwechselnd einen tieferen Einblick in die "Paralleluniversen" des Musiker und Rennwagenfahrers.
Aber auch als Autor versucht sich Victor Smolski. Am 16.09.2014 erscheint sein Buch "Straight To Hell Or To Paradise". Eine Biografie mit vielen interessanten Details zum Musikbusiness.
