Hell Preachers Inc - Supreme Psychedelic Underground - 1968
Hell Preachers Inc. - Supreme Psychedelic Underground 1968
(Germany, Psychedelic / Hard Rock)
With this album, a lot of confusion. Rumor has it that the creation of its members had a hand in the first composition "Deep Purple" ( with Evans and Simper ) . Say, musicians , wanting to earn extra money on the side, but do not have the possibility (under the terms of the contract with their record label ) to publish all under their real names , sold the German record label "Europa" so that he published them incognito. However , this is unlikely to be so , because their debut album "Shades Of Deep Purple" and "Supreme Psychedelic Underground" was published in 1968 . That is, at a time when "Deep Purple", even though they were a popular concert team in his native Britain and the authors of one moderately successful singles , international fame they have not had. Although, of course , some time before the creation of "Deep Purple" Ritchie Blackmore lived and worked in Germany ... So who is actually hidden behind the guise of "Hell Preachers Inc."? ... In the mid-60s in Hamburg was a bit -rock group "The German Bonds". They played it with vocalist George Mavros ( more known under the pseudonym George Monro), guitarist Peter Hesslein, bassist Dieter Hornst, drummer Peter "Peet" Becker and keyboardist Peter Hecht. This team has been quite popular in his homeland , has released several singles , but the sixties rolled over for the second half and are already moving to an end, and the musicians know that their music is out of date, and they themselves do not mind to try something new, such as psychedelics , well, then it would be a sin not to experiment in a new style . Having replaced drummer Peet Becker on Joachim "Addy" Reitenbach, musicians go into the studio and record their research and in the field of psychedelic hard rock , calling the project "Hell Preachers Inc." (" Hell preachers Corporation " ) . The resulting record out in 1968 by the German label "Europa" with a very catchy cover and opportunistic title "Supreme Psychedelic Underground". Interestingly, a year later , two members of the "Hell Preachers Inc." - Peter Hecht and Dieter Hornst, together with a former colleague on "The German Bonds" Peter Becker and singing guitarist Rainer Degner collected group "Bokaj Retsiem", named after the Meister Jacob ( only backwards) - the German version of the character of French children's song "Frere Jacques". The only record of this project received a similar name ("Psychedelic Underground", only without the "Supreme"). And in September 1969 album "Supreme Psychedelic Underground" bought out and re-released people from the British label "Marble Arch Records", which , apparently, prosekli chip similarity of this music is rapidly gaining popularity with "Deep Purple", began to exploit it , intensifying rumors about participation " Purple " in the record. In the early '70s, after the completion of the projects "Hell Preachers Inc." And "Bokaj Retsiem", Hesslein, Hecht, Hornst and Reitenbach together with vocalist John Lawton organized hard and progressive rock group "Lucifer's Friend". And in the mid-70s said Lawton will be part of "Uriah Heep" and will take part in the creation of their three albums. The musicians also recorded simultaneously in 70 two albums as "Electric Food", with Mavros (not Laughton ) on vocals. So , "Hell Preachers Inc." Can be considered the forerunner of the project. Such is they have been in Germany psychedelic hangout , and so that's intertwined destinies of musicians.
